Gabriella Marie

Today was a good day.    Shannon gave birth, ahead of schedule, to Gabriella Marie who was born at 2:30 pm.  It was a quick and beautiful birth.   Shannon is doing well as preeclampsia pushed us into the early birth.  Gabriella was with us for more than 2 hours.  (She was diagnosed 6 weeks ago with Trisomy 13 so we knew she would not be with us for long.)  Shannon and I were able to be with her the whole time and help her onto the next journey, to be with our heavenly Father.   Oh!  She was 19 ½ inches and 5lbs 7oz.
Thank you for your prayers and love-
Shane

Praying. Words can't express the thoughts our hearts feel when grieving. Praying. Praying. Praying for you arms as they will feel empty until you get to hold her again. May those right there know when to hold you, when to give you space, and when to cry with you.

I don't want you to go without congratulations on the birth of your daughter. I feel like that would be a cruel oversight. You should be congratulated. You had a precious gift given to you. So precious that God knew he could trust you with this heavy burden and the grief and pain that you would feel without her. I couldn't sleep last night without you next door. I've been thinking about you non-stop today. I'll continue to think of you indefinitely. The Hartman cloud has been hanging over my head for a while. But I'm happy to do what I can to share this heavy load with you. I love you! I miss you! (Goldie and Hannah miss you...) I wish there was something I could do for you. For now, I'll watch and pray from a distance. Let me know when you're ready for a hearty hug. And maybe some ice-cream... and a tasty beverage...

What a beautiful tribute to your baby girl. PRAISE GOD for those 2 precious hours. Your love shines through your posts and the Lord our God I'm sure is boasting with pride as you demonstrate faith & obedience through this challenging time. We are always left with many questions, but it's our faith that heals and gives us strength. I pray that your blog provides inspiration to all families. May we hug our family members a little tighter tonite.

Dear Hartmans,
Congrats on the birth of your daughter!! I know she was beautiful because you both are beautiful. I know Jesus is both celebrating and mourning with you today. God chooses perfect timing though we may not always understand. Loving you and praying for you all.

Congratulations on the birth of Gabriella! God sure did bless you with those 2 hours and those 8 1/2 months you had her in utero with you! Praying for you all as you find time to mourn the loss but also delight in the other blessings in your life. Praying! The Lord GIVES and he TAKES away. The amazing thing is you both will get to see her again! :)

Shannon and Shane,

As I sit here with tears welling up, I know nothing I can say will make anything be better. I pray that God will provide you peace and comfort and healing and the time to grieve. You will be in our prayers.
