Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for
* Shane- He's a great dad and a great husband. I love watching him with Gracie. He left tonight for a few minutes and she was so sad. She loves her daddy. We are so blessed to have him.
* Grace- She is so sweet and I love watching her explore life and learn new things. Today she was babbling on and on and crawling all over the living room. It stopped when she got stuck under a chair. :)

What are you thankful for?

10 on Tuesday

1) We are ALL healthy at the Hartman house!
2) Grace will now clap just about every time I sing... "if you're happy and you know it..." It's pretty cute.
3) We had a great weekend! Grandma Shirley came and relieved us by loving on Gracie all weekend.

4) Shirley and I also went to some great garage sales (and some not so great!!!) I got G some wooden puzzles, a rocking horse, and a little farm fridge magnet thing and they were all great deals!

5) I ALSO found a super cute tea kettle. I haven't had one for a few months and if you are a tea person you will know that microwaving it is NOT the same. I have had three cups of tea in the past two days and it's been great!
6) This little clapper has decided that naps are for babies and since she's almost 11 months she's over it. We are lucky to get a half hour or so out of her each time.

7) I have book club tomorrow! I'm excited for the company of the ladies and also the discussion of a good book.

8) On one of our walks this past week we stopped to visit our friend Judy S. and she has two dogs. Grace LOVES animals! She doesn't mind them in her face and she is wants to see everything they are doing. She also makes this fun little noise when she sees a dog.

9) Gracie loved being outside this past weekend and she loves our walks. She isn't 100% sure about grass though. It's kind of picky and she will not move 1 inch when I set her down.

10) She also has developed a slight fear of the vacuum! She doesn't even want to crawl by it when it's off! I think it's kind of funny. :)

Update

I didn't kill my grass! It grew and I even got to cut it! I used it for my friend Christi's shower. Doesn't it look cute? The little round tag on the top says "O Baby"

My little missy is on the mend. She's still not completely herself, a little clingy and cranky but give her a few more days and she'll be out in the driveway doing this again.

Easter (a little late)

We went to Michigan to celebrate Easter with my family and this little bunny.

Maybe she's growing on him???? :)

Gracie tried out the local delicacy (tire pieces from the playground). She wasn't impressed. Neither was her mother.

She's not much of a dare devil. She doesn't like to be thrown in the air. The slide doesn't thrill her, but she does like to get her swing on!

She does like being with her daddy though! This was right before the slide (that didn't impress her)

Sick

We had another first yesterday- the first time Grace got the flu. It started right after church and is still going strong. She has an upset tummy, fever, and just all around feels bad. We have been on double duty, washing LOTS of sheets, pjs, towels, car seats, and even my clothes.

We were in Warsaw at Ruby Tuesdays, just getting out of the car when she first got sick. Naive parents that we were, we just thought, oh, she must have been carsick?? Of course... I did not have a change of clothes with me. So G and I went inside while Shane ran to Kmart for some clothes. Then while we are eating, I notice that she's not even touching her crackers... I told Shane to eat fast because I thought she was sick.. . just then, she confirmed it. In RUBY TUESDAYS. At the table. I grabbed her, cleaned her up quick, apologized to our neighbors, and got out to the car while Shane got to-go boxes. Thus began the flu. Poor little muffin. All she wants to do is lay her head on whatever is nearby.

I took her to the Dr. this morning and we are just doing little sips of Pedialite all day and hopefully she'll start to feel better tomorrow. The unfortunate thing is that Grace shared her flu with her daddy! So I have two sick ones here, softly snoring away. Praying that our house gets germ free soon!

Smiles

My sister took this picture of Gracie when we were visiting for Easter. I love her smile. She is such a happy baby and loves to play. Today we were on the floor and I was pretending with her and she was giggling up a storm! It is amazing to me how she feeds off of our facial expressions. If we are happy and silly, she is too. A smile goes a long way and I can't get enough of this one!

10 on Tuesday

1. Gracie likes looking out the glass door. We have squirrels that come up on the porch and she can sometimes see them. She also likes to make noise with her hand by hitting the glass.

2. She is starting to take an interest in her doll, faces, and even a few stuffed animals.

3. She will clap, but often not on demand. (you've got to keep them wanting more right?)

4. I've been scrapbooking and have left it out all month on a table by the kitchen. She likes to get under there while I'm working. I've let her play with stickers and such. She loves it!

5. She does not like the vacuum. (does that mean it's a good thing I don't vacuum like I should?!) Yesterday she totally booked down the hall when I turned it on. then she tried to hide under the bar stool.
6. She is a good eater. She will eat veggies (if you give them to her first).
7. She LOVES eggs. If you haven't seen her eat eggs, you need to. We'll try to video it. She can eat 2 eggs and a piece of toast for breakfast. Today for lunch she has 4 chicken nuggets, a half of banana AND some green beans!
8. She is into everything. Nothing is safe.
9. She loves to get into her baskets. She's learning how to get out of them. She also dive bombs off the couch, your lap, or anywhere.
10. She is sitting on my lap as I type this, reaching for the mouse, the pens, some receipts... It's time to play before Daddy comes home!

10 months (and some change)

it's getting harder and harder to get these pictures!
I did manage to snap one quickly before she rolled and started moving.

This is a sample of the rest of the shots I took. :)

Gracie is 10 months old (well, she turned 10 months on the 10th, I'm a bit behind)
At 10 months Gracie:
  • likes to explore. She especially likes to crawl under the table, through the coffee table, and even behind the treadmill.
  • likes to take things apart. A nice stack of DVDs? perfect. A basket of books? lovely. A pile of magazines? heaven She seems to have a mission to take things apart, or out of where they are.
  • has two favorite toys and two favorite books. The toys are her blocks and her stacking rings. I think this is because she likes to take them out of where they are. When we put them back, she just looks even more determined to take the blocks out or the rings off the post. Her books are 5 Little Ladybugs and then a new ABC book that Emma B. sent to her. (thanks Em!) She will let us read both of those over and over. She is good about sitting for books and turning the pages but she LOVES these. She especially loves the M and N page because they have to kids on there and she is fascinated by them!
  • has not learned any sign language yet. I am constantly going "more, more, do you want more Grace?" and making the sign for more. I also do please, all done and thank you. Nothing. In fact, her new "trick" is to holler and scream when she wants to eat. Not very endearing. :)
  • is getting better at moving and standing up. She even will walk by just holding one hand now.

Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for

  • my pedometer. I've been trying to walk 10,000 steps a day. That's a lot by the way. About 5 miles. I haven't hit it every day but it's good accoutability. Walk around the house during the day plus a good walk in there and it can happen. Today we walked to the grocery store!
  • Survivor. I love survivor. What would make tonight better would be watching it with my Thursday night girls. I made Joanne's vegetable beef soup tonight. It was delish. If they were here, they'd eat it with me. :)
  • Grass. I planted this little saucer of grass for Easter and apparently I used too much grass. But it is starting to grow! Maybe too late for Easter, but it is growing. I guess that one time I sprayed it with cleaner instead of water didn't hurt it too bad!
  • MOPS - we didn't have it this week and I really missed it. I am enjoying the ideas, the speakers, and getting to know new ladies
  • Jesus. Tomorrow is an important day for us, but Sunday even more so. I'm so thankful that He chose to die for my unworthy soul. I am awed that he chose to go through such agony for me. We are loved.

Stay tuned for 10 month lamb pictures!!!!

Grandma's

Praise the Lord, I just NOW found out how to move pictures. I have had people tell me and then tell me again, and it just seemed to NOT work. You have to be only 10% smarter than what you are trying to work with.

Anyhow, we went to visit Grandma Shirley last week. Shane helped her out with a few things and Gracie and I enjoyed cable tv. :)
We put Gracie in her director chair while we put the porch swing together.
She tried it out and told us we did a fine job putting it together.
She did, of course, double check the directions to make sure we did it correctly (see previous post about my little reader).

The finished product! Shirley, we had a great time visiting with you and can't wait to do it again.
Love,
Us

She's like her Mama

She is! She loves to read too!

Simple Woman's Daybook

I got this idea from my Ohio friend Jess (I have lots of Jess's in my life). I am not sure what or how I am supposed to link it but I wanted to do it anyway. It comes from The Simple Woman's Daybook. www.thesimplewomansdaybook.blogspot.com How do I make the link active anyone?

Outside my window... cloudy and cold today. No sun like yesterday. It's a day for staying inside.
I am thinking... that I would like to organize my week so that I make sure I get everything done. We'll see if that happens.

From the learning rooms... in the process of learning how to make a garden! How much space to we need and how much should we plant. I love the internet!

I am thankful for... the kids in church today having fun waving their palms all over. I needed that to start my focus of this week.

From the kitchen... low fat chocolate muffins. I'm trying a new recipe that includes ground oats and baby prunes!

I am wearing... black long sleeved shirt, black shoes and khakis (I'm getting closer to my prepregnancy clothes!!)

I am reading... some prevention magazines my MIL gave me

I am hoping... that this week will be productive and that my daughter will stop her fussiness (she woke up a bit cranky today!)

I am creating...scrapbook pages! I am trying to do as many as I can in the month of April. It's a fun challenge that is encouraging me to get caught up.
I am hearing... Grace ready to be taken out of her "office". She's done playing in there and is letting me know in no uncertain terms
Around the house... bathrooms to clean, a scrapbook table to organize and laundry to be folded

One of my favorite things... drinking a hot cup of tea on cold days like today.

A few plans for the rest of the week... making cookies to take to Michigan on Saturday, scrapping, working on some Women's Ministry plans for the next few months

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...
