First (real) haircut

Shane told me last week that Gavin was looking like one of the guys from Dumb and Dumber.  Now, I know my baby is cute and that his hair was cute but he was starting to look like no one was taking care of him. (ha!) It was time for a haircut!
I had been trimming his bangs and Grandma Shirley and I had trimmed up a few long pieces around 6 months or so but it was looking pretty shaggy (and uneven!)
Here are some befores.  He just started squishing up his nose.  Funny.
And here's his first "after"!  I had her keep it long ish and just clean it up a bit.  He'll need it cut soon but that's ok.
And, as if on cue, a squishy nose "after".
My sweet boy.  He had the flu this week.  Even not feeling well he's so stinking cute!

life lately

Lately Gavin has taken to helping Gracie empty the dishwasher.  He is all over and into everything.  We have a baby gate over the stairs to the basement, one around the stairs upstairs and a big one around our bookcases and school supplies.  Our house is totally gated.  Ha!

Lately Grace has seemed so grown up to me!  She loves this hat from her cousin Hannah and often wears it to bed.  She has found out that "potty talk" (words like pee and poop) is funny and cracks herself up daily. (and yes we try to reign it in but she's six!)
 Grac
Lately this one has loved taking baths!  Teething has given him some pretty amazing diapers and blow outs so he has spent some time in this tub!

and lately he has started WALKING!!!  It started with this push toy for his birthday and just yesterday he started taking a step or two on his own.  Sniff sniff... my baby....

Lately we've been so busy that I haven't posted his 11 month pic.  And he's so busy that I just used the sticker on his back instead of trying to keep him facing me!

Lately
Lately Grahammers has wanted to hold his baby brother.  Oh buddy, you should have taken advantage of holding him when he couldn't move much.  He is so not interested in cuddling!

Lately we've been trying to take advantage of nice weather to hike.  Shane is good about taking the kids out and they love exploring with him.  On this hike Gav and I even joined in.

We are blessed to live in such a beautiful place and have the opportunity to enjoy all the property around us.

Lately my kids have been involved in our church!  Grace is the middle angel and did a great job singing for the kids Christmas program.  I loved watching her watch the program too.  It was funny and her face was all smiles and would light up when they would say a joke.  Graham was a sheep (with no costume or make up- not interested!) and he did a great job going up there despite some hesitation.  I was proud of both of them!

Girls Girls Girls.

I went to spend a weekend up north with some near and dear friends last week.  My first visit was a slumber party with my friends in North Webster!  We had so much fun.  And.. I got ZERO pics!  It was so much fun though.  We did do a little crafting and I snapped a pic of that.  Ha!

Then I met Jayma, Jodi, and Joanne and we went to our fav in Huntington- Los Amigos.  YUM.  Then we went to watch Jo coach HU girls basketball.  Little did we know we'd get a treat of a giant sized pic of Joanne!  Best part of our night. ;)

We have been getting together for years... I think at least 10 to do something Christmasy.  It merged from decorating sugar cookies (boo! no one likes that!!) to making the Pioneer Woman's Cinnamon Rolls.  And in all honestly?  Jodi does MOST of the work and we just support her.  Poor girl can't even eat gluten and she still does this with us! Jamal is a self proclaimed non crafter and look what she made us?  We were so proud.

Here are some of our work.  Ready to cook.  I'll have to share Jodi's pic of the end result.  Complete with our traditional empty pan that we scarfed down!

It was the best weekend and just what I needed to relax and have fun after a busy fall.  I LOVE all my friends!

Another one bites the dust!

Grace lost her other front tooth this week!  It was all snaggly and hanging there and we worked hard to pop it out.
She looks so big here.  My little munchkin is so growing up....

Happy Halloween!

I am going to try to get this blog up and going again, so hang with me!
Gav had this sweet pumpkin outfit so I put it on him and put him with the pumpkins.  Isn't he so sweet?

And Graham is growing so so fast.  Last night he was telling me something and I couldn't stop staring at him.  He's losing that "toddler"look.  sigh...

It was a rainy, cold night but they still got lots of candy!  Here is my bear, cat lady, and dragon.

Now, on to Thanksgiving (which Grace says isn't any fun - she doesn't like Thanksgiving food.  Ha!) :)

And this...

(catching up on pics)We have a four year old in the house.  No, not this one.  But he was happy to celebrate!
Here he is!
Our favorite place to eat. SNAPPY TOMATO! :)
We spent a lot of time camping this summer.  It was great!
I have a pic of Graham's first time in the cart like a big boy.  Need to find it to compare!

9 Months

How is Gavin 9 months old already?  I need him to stop growing so fast!
But... he won't no matter how hard I try or wish.
I know this pic is blurry, but that's how fast he is these days!

At 9 months Gavin:
  • weighs 16 lbs 12 oz.  My biggest baby! :)
  • is crawling everywhere and pulling himself up.  His favorite place is the kitchen. Whenever the fridge is open he high tails it over there.
  • has three teeth in and is working on his other top one as we speak
  • eats mostly what we eat.  He never really cared for baby food.  He loves goldfish, green beans, yogurt and scrambled eggs.
  • adores is big brother and sister (and the feeling is mutual!) It's so sweet to see Graham with him and Grace is very responsible with him.
  • takes all formula now.  Our nursing ended right around 9 months exactly (thank you teething!)
  • sleeps all night from around 7-7:30 pm to 7-7:30 am.
  • is super smiley and happy almost all the time!

Breaking News!

Breaking News at the Hartman House.  Grace has lost her top tooth!  It was dangling for a long time and she was totally looking all snaggle toothed.  But with some encouragement from her Dad she pulled it out!

My big girl! :)

Conquering my fears.

My family came to visit this summer and we decided to take everyone over to camp Indicoso to do the zip lines and ropes course.  Aaron, Hannah, Adam and I braved the course.
We also called Grandma Shirley up!  She had just retired and what better way to celebrate than an adventure!
So....  I've been married to the man who builds these things (he built this one!) and he climbs these all the time.  But I've never gone on one!  I've always been pregnant when we have had the chance.  So.  I got up to the first platform (with some help. Ha!) and then promptly panicked.  Like crying, ugly face, moaning icannotpossiblydothis panic.  Shane was great and gave me the option of getting down but no way was I quitting.  What you see above is me moving through the course.  What you cannot see if my panic and you cannot hear my moaning!
Hannah rocked it though!  She was nervous I'm sure but she did it all!
Aaron and Shirley were ahead of me and they didn't even think twice about doing it!  Adam?  Not sure this was his most favorite thing to do but he did it too!
And... I lived to tell about it!  Ha!  This was before the zip line and I was singing praises to the Lord that I was going to get down. :)  It made me super proud of Shane for how hard he works building things like this for kids to experience.
