First Cold

fOur little one had her first cold this week.. It started on Tuesday. She just wasn't feeling good, kind of whiny, and not herself. That night she started coughing and had a runny nose. She ran a little fever on Wednesday. She's starting to feel more like herself, but because of her stuffed nose, she's had a hard time eating! She eats a bit, pulls off to breathe then goes back, repeat over and over and over. She also was up 5 times last night! That was not fun for her mom. PLUS, she is such a sweetie and loves to share already, she shared her cold with me! So today we are just hanging low and I'm hoping to feel better soon. :)

Target is her happy place

Ok, you know how "they say" that when you are most comfortable, that's when you need to um, use the bathroom? For some it's when they have their morning coffee, for others it's just getting home after being gone for a while... For Grace- it's Target.

Here's the story. We (Shane, Gracie and I) were on our way to Target yesterday to buy Gracie a jumper to sit in. We got in the car and headed to Goshen. When we got into town, I heard some tell tale noises coming from the back seat. Shane says "oh, do we need to stop before we get to target?" we decide to pull into a vaccuum shop place since we need new bags for our vaccuum anyway. He goes in to buy them and I tackle Gracie. I pull her out and look at the top of her pants.. Nothing! That's a great sign, but then I notice her shoes...POOP on her shoe! She had blew out the LEG of her diaper! It was ALL the way down her leg on her shoes and socks. BLAH! We got a few cleaner bags from the store and took off her clothes and changed the mess... (and by mess, I mean MESS, it was everywhere!!!!)

Oh, but the story doesn't end there. Gracie's mom... in her brillance just grabbed the little diaper bag when they left the house. That meant that they had TWO diapers and a small thing of wipes and NO OTHER CLOTHES! yes, that's right, no clothes. So we clean her up and put her back in her seat in her diaper, turn the heat up and head to Target. Shane went in and bought her a new outfit and I fed her in the car and waited. He did pick out a super cute one though, and even got socks and some onesies (good job honey!) I wanted to go pick them out, but he said since I came unprepared, I had to deal with him shopping! :)

So... the end of the story is that Gracie's mom has learned to ALWAYS be prepared even for a "quick trip" somewhere. :)

Happy Fall

This was the perfect weekend to be outside. We had a campfire with friends and then on Saturday took a walk in the woods.

Family

We've had lots of time with family lately. Gracie and I went to Michigan to see my family, Grandma Shirley came this week, Grandpa and Grandma Diane are coming today and we stopped in to visit a dear friend "Grandma Betty" a few weeks ago.

what a day

Gracie had shots today and they wore her right out! She missed a morning nap while at the Drs so I put her in her seat this afternoon and turned on a baby einstein video... she sat so quietly I was able to get a lot done.. when I checked on her this is what I saw.
So sweet! She was tired! I snapped a few pictures though before picking her up and putting her in her crib. See her bandaids? She did not like getting shots (who does?) But she was so good at the apt.
I snapped one more and then scooped her up to put her to bed... Now, maybe you noticed it before I did? Look carefully. Still don't see my little surprise? Ok, then look below..

This was just a glimpse of what was waiting for me UNDER her legs. I'm not sure much actually landed IN the diaper. :)

Four Months!!!

I am a few days late, but our sweet baby is now 4 months old. She is 11 lbs 14 oz and 23 inches long (still little but the Dr is happy with her growth curve!!) She's very good at holding her head up. She has rolled from tummy to back a few times, but doesn't seem to like to do it "on command!". She's getting some chub on her legs and belly! She prefers to stand rather than sit (stand on a lap of whoever is holding her) and she never likes to be cradled like a baby. She is drooly and loves to put whatever she is holding in her mouth. She is just starting to laugh and she smiles a lot! She is selective about her smiles though and it seems like she saves most of them for us... so feel lucky if you get one! :) She likes to study her surroundings and is very aware of what's going on. She is also getting a personality! She used to go down for bed without much fuss, but we are now seeing a bit of an attitude- she doesn't want to miss anything that's going on! We are so blessed to have such a sweet precious little girl. I looked at her sleeping last night and realized that four months isn't long but I can't imagine my life without her..

Happy Baby

She's sitting in my lap right now talking up a storm. She doesn't want to be on her own playing, she wants to be sitting at the computer where the action is! These pictures were taken after church on Sunday. Thanks for the "stylin" outfit Grandma Diane!
