Whirlwind weekend

We had a super busy weekend!  On Friday Grandpa Hartman came over to help us get ready for the garage sale and on Saturday we had the HUGE 5 family sale!  It was a great success but very tiring!  Shane did most of the work for it and it paid off...  we sold LOTS of stuff!

Later that afternoon Gracie's Uncle Shawn came over with Nicki and cousins Rilee and Reese.  The girls LOVED seeing Grace!  They couldn't get enough of her...  Rilee was a great big cousin and wanted to give Grace lots of toys to play with and informed me that she would be the one teaching Gracie lots of things since she was the oldest.  Reese was so taken by Grace I'm not sure she left her side except when I was nursing.  Then she stood outside the nursery door and kept asking...  is she eating?  Is Baby Grace done? Can I hold her now? They were so good with her though and it was very fun to see them so excited about her.  When they left today Reese called from the car.. "take care of Baby Grace!"  :)

The rest of the afternoon the Hartman family took advantage of the quiet and we all napped!  It was a great but tiring weekend!

Big Girl!

We took Grace to be weighed again yesterday and she was 6lbs 14 oz!  She's getting so big!  Since she's been gaining steadily, there is no big reason for worry.  We have one more weight check at the Drs. office next Tuesday and he wanted her to be 7 lbs...  she's probably there today!  She also slept for 5 hours last night! Good job Gracie (and hooray for mom!)

curls?

getting a bath!
Gracie's new hair do!
all worn out after a day with mommy

It's so humid today and we didn't have the air on....  Gracie's hair looked like it was curling!  It could have been because she needed a bath though!  So I gave her one and afterward played with it a bit and she had a little mohawk!  I thought it was cute.

Her daddy went to see the cubs today so our friend Jayma came and hung out with us for a while.  We also took a walk tonight!  It was nice to get out and move, and not hurt while walking!

Two Weeks Old

sleeping, just the way we like her! :)

Two weeks old!

Today Grace is two weeks old. She had a Dr. apt and is up to 6 lbs 12 oz. We're happy to know that she's gaining and hope that she's up to at least 7 lbs by next week. She had lots of visitors this week including little J who is three days younger than her but about 3 pounds bigger!

Grace's habits for now seem to be that she's up in the morning for a few hours then cat naps all day and is awake in the afternoon for a few hours. When she is awake she is all eyes as if she can't take enough in. She's been sleeping well at night, but now wakes herself up every 2-3 hours to eat... she likes to eat for about 45 minutes though!

Last night we went downtown to the mermaid festival for dinner. Before we went, I had to feed Gracie, then when we got there we had to get the stroller, diaper bag, AND Grace... no more just quick trips anywhere!

lazy Saturday

We are having a lazy Saturday here!  We all got some good sleep last night. I pumped a bottle and went to bed at 9:30 and Shane fed Grace when she woke up at 11, then they went to sleep and he brought her to me a little before 2.  That means I had over 4 hours of uninterrupted sleep!  I feel like a new person.  We all got up around 8.  Shane cleaned the house and I helped straighten things.  We are having Gracie's pictures taken tomorrow and also she is meeting her Uncle Shawn and her cousins for the first time!

The pics are of some friends and family who have come to meet Grace.  We are still looking forward to introducing her to her other cousins and her Aunt and Uncle in Michigan!

Here is a funny story for the week- we took Gracie to the lactation consultant on Friday to be weighed and to check on how much she is getting at each feeding.  The consultant undressed her and put her on the scale on her back....  her little leg stuck straight out so she decided to turn her over on her belly so all of her would be in the scale.  So, she turned her over and when she put Grace's knees up to her belly, Grace let loose ( and I'm not talking pee!)  It was all over the scale and it even shot out!  I looked on the wall but didn't see anything, a few minutes later I see the consultant wiping her papers on her desk!  Grace has good aim!

our little elf

Baby news

We are having fun figuring out parenting together!  Yesterday the at home nurse came to check on us and Gracie is a bit smaller than she should be (i.e. not gaining the right amount of weight) She's starting to put it on but for now, I am only a feeding machine to her..... and she likes to eat ALL THE TIME.  :)

My cousin Amy sent Grace a sweet sweater, hat and shoes that she made herself.  They are the cutest things I've ever seen! I put them on her yesterday and we had a photo shoot!  The blanket was made my my Aunt Dorothy.  She didn't love the hat falling over her eyes, but we had fun!

Grace got so tired from her photo shoot, she fell asleep in my lap wrapped up in the blanket.

One Week Old

Today Gracie is one week old.  She celebrated all night. :)   I finally put her on my chest around 4 and we both slept until 7!  She ate and is now sleeping in her crib.  I find that I enjoy her so much more in daylight hours...   when it's dark, it's harder to think her little grunts and movements are as cute but as soon as it's light... I can't get enough of them.

Grace also found her thumb this morning!  I was trying to keep her up for a few minutes after she ate and she was looking for any way to go to sleep.  She has been sucking on her hands from day one but today she managed to get her thumb in her mouth and I could tell she was in heaven!  We will try to stop that cute little trick though!
